Italjet ITALJET Founded in Bologna, Italy in 1959 the brand put scooters back on the worldwide scene thanks to the amazing designs of Leopoldo Tartarini. Mainly known for the Velocifero and the Dragster the Italjet lineup became the choice transportation for celebrities and stars alike in the early 1990?s. They did an amazing job at marketing abroad spreading the Italian image of scootering not seen since the ad campaigns of Vespa and Lambretta back in the 1960?s. The company did not survive the first phase of the intense scooter price wars in Italy and started to fold in 2002. Kinetic an Indian scooter and motorcycle manufacturer acquired the rights to all the designs and molds in late 2003. Diamo USA began re-importing the brand starting with the CF Moto based GY6 150cc and CF 250cc units (See CF Moto section.) Notes *The original Italjet scooters imported into the US (1996-2002) featured Piaggio air cooled engines made only for the Velocifero and the Franco Morini ? Suzuki based air engines (similar to TGB / Hyosung engines) for the rest of the lineup. There is also the limited Franco Morini Liquid Cooled engine found in the Dragster which is difficult to find parts for. The final US models featured Minarelli based Yamaha ? Jog ? Air and Liquid Cooled engines. When ordering parts please make sure to verify the type of engine you are ordering parts for. All new models imported after 2007 feature Chinese based engines. For brief period some Dragsters were imported by ModCycles in Miami Florida these were discontinued final Italian production Dragsters.
